This idea has bothered me ever since the whole Matrix thing. I know it’s gone on for far longer than that. The main reason it bothers me is Dave. He is my Dave posit of why the Simulation Theory is bollox. You’re welcome.
My take is definitely the glitch in the matrix one. I have never played (and never will) a simulation game that I can’t break in terms of looking in the bins or cupboards of houses on streets I shouldn’t go down. Even the most profound aliens would have a Dave who has to do the programming, and at some point, it would be profound multiverse Friday and Dave would knock off early to do something better than simulate us. Then the bin would miraculously have no contents.
However, don’t take my word for it. Tim Andersen PhD (actual physicist and philosopher, rather than dodgy Scouse bullshit artist) says the whole thing more eloquently here.
Right. Off to finish writing a book about life and death instead then.
